Reception Friday September 12th 6-9pm | available by appointment from September 7th - 11th
The Tye collection is a collaborative bow tie series by designer Lesley Ware with creative direction from curator kamau ware. Lesley and kamau have two nephews named Tye and found it a fitting title for the collection. The concept is that each bow tie have its own personality and story, very much like their adorable nephews. The first tie from this collection is “the Portie” which is inspired by the school uniforms worn by the children in the city of Port Antonio, Jamaica, which was pleasantly discovered by the Wares on their summer vacation.
OMWA + Idia’Dega is Indigenous-inspired elegant ethical apparel. OMWA: Olorgesailie Maasai Women Artisans of Kenya and Tereneh Mosley designer of Idia’Dega a US-based eco-fashion line. Ms. Mosley lived in a Maasai community to co-design the Tomon Collection with OMWA. Tomon means 10 in Maa, the Maasai language, the collection is a ten-piece eco-collection for women and men featuring apparel, accessories and jewelry. The collection premiered in Paris this past July.
